The truth is, rbgees went through what too many black-owned businesses in America go through. What started as a small independent brand grew faster than expected, and with that growth came the challenge of figuring out how to scale it the right way. I wanted to build rbgtees into something bigger, something lasting, something truly impactful but the knowledge, support, and capital needed to make that leap were not within reach. After hitting wall after wall, the brand eventually became another business with real potential that could not sustain itself. But that was not the end of the story. What came out of that experience was a deeper purpose. I took everything learned through the rise and fall of rbgees and used it to build the kind of support system I wish existed when I needed it. Since then, that work has helped hundreds of businesses in our community start & grow, and it has played a role in creating more opportunity and stronger infrastructure for black-owned businesses locally. Even with all of that, rbgtees never stopped meaning something to me. This brand was more than clothing it was an expression, identity, and perspective. Over time, I realized there was still a void for apparel that reflected my values and viewpoint in a clear and unapologetic way. I could find designs that looked good on the surface, but too often the message behind the brand did not align with what I believe. I attempted to revive the brand a few times, but it became clear that RBGTees was not meant to come back the same way it left. My ancestors made it clear that the brand needed a different direction and a stronger narrative. Once I understood that message, I was finally able to bring it back with the clarity and purpose it deserved. So here we are... And if you’re here checking in on us after all this time, thank you. Truly. Your support meant something then, and it means even more now. This return is not about chasing a moment—it is about building the brand the right way, with more experience, more clarity, and a stronger foundation than before. When we shut down a few years ago, it was a very difficult time and there were orders in queue that unfortunately went unfulfilled. I hope that everyone was able to get a refund but if not I want to make it right. If you were one of the customers affected, I want to acknowledge that directly. Your support helped build this brand, and I take that responsibility seriously. As we relaunch, my goal is to work through any outstanding order and make things right over time. Because the brand is being rebuilt from the ground up, I'm not able to resolve every order immediately.
